The Business Of Porn – Forbes

The Business Of Porn – Forbes.

“Scott” at the end of this article sums it up best.  “I watch porn.  I don’t pay for porn.  Do I feel guilty about it?  No.”  The key thing is “he’s a porn consumer” like myself and others, but we’re disgusted by the greed of companies who make millions and billions of dollars off someone else’s work.

I say “someone else’s work” because the Porn Industry has never been about the Companies who produce Porn.  It’s always been  about the “performers”.  The ones risking their lives to provide us fantasy and the opportunity for us  to live “vicariously” through their work.  They’re paid “pennies on the dollar” in regards to the amount of money that the Elegant Angels, Vivids, Digital Playgrounds, and Jules Jordans of the industry make.

I would have issue with pirating porn or watching porn on porntube sites for free if these girls were losing risiduals from me doing so.  However, they receive a “one time payment” (unless they own the company themselves they’re shooting for), and these companies can make as much money off their efforts as they can.  DVD sales, web subscriptions, etc.  As a result, I feel “Riley Reid got her money, so fuck Elegant Angel”.  I’m not the only one that feels that way.

I will pay for porn the day these Companies realize that “any revenue is revenue”.  Charge me $7.99 a month like Netflix to watch all of your porn content monthly, and I would do so.  Let me pay $14.99 a month for DRM free access to all of your library and I would consider that as well.  However, charging me $34.95 for Big Wet Asses 22 on DVD means one thing and one thing only to me.  Time for me to find a site I can download the content for free.

Hell, even charge $.99 a scene to download, and you’d have my money instantly.  Convenience, and a chance to watch the scene in the highest possible quality (versus an upload by someone) would be worth the cost.  Instead, I’ll take my chances, and did.  Thank you Alexis Ford, Alison Tyler, Lexi Belle, Remy LaCroix, and Sarah Vandella for your performances.  If you controlled the content, and I could pay you directly I would.  However, paying means that Elegant Angel continues to make millions off your work, so I’ll continue paying “zero”.
